Feeding the Needy with More Than 1,000 Sandwiches

Northwell Health Department of Medicine employees made 1,332 PB&J sandwiches for the local hungry.

To help the area’s hungry population, more than 25 Northwell Health Department of Medicine employees gathered in Southside Hospital’s board rooms on the evening of June 6 to make 1,332 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, which were donated to St. Anne’s church in Brentwood.

In addition to creating the space for this endeavor, Southside Hospital also donated several supplies to help create the sandwiches, including bowls, spatulas and gloves.

After the great success of this first event, dubbed Jammin for the Community, the department of medicine anticipates making this a monthly service opportunity.
