Lindenhurst VFW Fire: 4 Firefighters Hospitalized Battling Blaze
The blaze broke out Wednesday morning.

LINDENHURST, NY - Four firefighters were hurt battling a blaze at the Veterans of Foreign Wars building in Lindenhurst on Wednesday morning.
Suffolk Police say they responded to the fire on N. Delaware Avenue and Newark Street at 10:37 a.m. Arson detectives were notified.
Craig Santoli, a chief with the Lindenhurst Fire Department, told Newsday that four firefighters were hospitalized — two for injuries after the water hose exploded and two who suffered from heat exhaustion. None of the injuries are life threatening.

Bisou Event Space, a local business located N. Wellwood Avenue just a few blocks away from the VFW, expressed their condolences on Facebook and offered to help anyone who had an event scheduled at the organization.
"If there is anyone who has events scheduled this Friday or Saturday and is now looking for a place to move their event, we have some availability and can possibly help," the post read. "Having an event is stressful enough and we want to help our community by extending a hand. We will reach out to the VFW to let them know we can help."
