LINDENHURST, NY - Lindenhurst's highly-anticipated new restaurant will be officially open to the public by the end of the month. Three longtime friends Kristen Lapof, Lauren Nash and Sara Pesserillo have been working on their new eatery, Hermanas Kitchen and Cocktails on 136 S Wellwood Avenue for the past year. Many local residents are already excited for the opening of the Hispanic-inspired restaurant.

"The community has been amazing, everybody has been super supportive we've gotten so much support from the other local businesses the other restaurants around here have been helping us throughout the entire process and then even just local residents stopping in everyday saying they can't wait for us to open, it's been very nice we feel very welcome," Lapof told Patch.

The menu will be geared towards sharing, with small plates of foods such as empanadas and tacos along with bigger plates of items such as salads and sandwiches. In addition there will be several craft cocktails to choose from.

"We took inspiration from all different regions from Latin America, Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, Spain and kind of mixed them all together," LaPof said.

At first, Hermanas will be closed on Sundays, but later on in the future the restaurant will be offering all-day brunch.

The women, all Long Island residents (Nash is a Lindenhurst native, Lapof lives in nearby Massapequa Park and Pesserillo lives in Massapequa), wanted to provide a homey, comfortable vibe at their restaurant. This was definitely accomplished through their cozy, modern decor.
With all the new businesses coming in Lindenhurst, it's the perfect time for the trio, who have worked together in the restaurant industry for the past 15 years, to finally open their first business.

"We definitely like the village vibes and there's a lot going on in this village with the revitalization and we just want to be a part of something new and we want to grow with the community," Lapof said.

While the process has had its ups and downs, the three have gotten through it all together.

"There's always unforeseen obstacles that everyone has to go through but also I think what got us through it was our relationship that's been the one stabilizer for us, we've been able to laugh everything off," Lapof said.
