How To Help A Family Who Lost Father Right Before Christmas

The local family went through a devastating loss recently and is looking for help paying for medical bills and to stay in their home.

LINDENHURST, NY - A GoFundMe was created to help the family of a Long Island man who was died unexpectedly just a few days before Christmas. John Mazza who was born and raised in Lindenhurst, suffered from a heart attack on Dec. 22.

He unfortunately passed away, leaving behind his wife and three children ages 23,15 and 11. Following his untimely death, John's daughter, Georgia Mazza started the fundraiser to help the family.

"...my dad passed away and it has taken a toll on my family and I," she wrote on the page. "There are too many bills and my mom is disabled and can’t afford them. The money raised will help pay off what my mother can’t and help my family and I remain in our home."

According to John's sister, Larissa Mazza D’Apice, the money will go towards pay the medical bills and stay in their house, which was John and Larissa's parents home.

He raised his own family there. The goal of the page is to raise a total of $25,000 to help the family. In just three days the page has raised a total of $2,845 to help the local family.

“John Mazza was a one of a kind guy who made everyone laugh. He will truly be missed by all,” Larissa told Patch.
