Illegal Car Meet-Up Busted By Police; East Islip Man Charged

A large crowd gathered at a train station overnight to perform dangerous car tricks and blast music, according to police.

BAYWOOD, NY — An East Islip man is charged after he performed dangerous car tricks at an illegal overnight meet-up in Baywood, according to police.

Michael Ginsberg, 24, of the 100 block of Connetquot Avenue, was arrested and charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, engaging in exhibition or stunt behavior, and reckless driving, Suffolk County police said.

Ginsberg was taken into custody after law enforcement received multiple complaints from community members and conducted a coordinated operation around midnight Sunday at the Deer Park Long Island Rail Road station on Pine Aire Drive, according to police. A large crowd was speeding, hanging on to moving vehicles, playing loud music, spinning tires and doing “donuts” in the station parking lot, police said.

Ginsberg’s car, a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado, was impounded, according to police. Ginsberg was held overnight and was set to be arraigned Sunday, police said.
