Suffolk BOE Votes To Expand Bus Route After Facing Parent Backlash
The Lindenhurst board of education voted to expand its bus route, after parents said their children were ineligible to ride the bus.

LINDENHURST, NY — The Lindenhurst Board of Education voted on a new policy Wednesday night to amend their bus transportation system, one month after parents said their children were ineligible to ride the school bus.
After several audits, the district determined that 110 out of 5,700 students in the were considered ineligible to ride the bus, due to their proximity to schools. In a letter to families, Superintendent Anthony Davidson wrote that the district could lose state funding if they continued busing kids who are not eligible.
However, multiple parents expressed frustrations last month, saying that despite being close to schools, their children had to walk through dangerous, high-traffic areas.
