Sixty juniors and seniors from Lindenhurst High School were inducted into the National Honor Society during a poignant candlelit ceremony on May 21 in the high school cafeteria.
The evening was attended by parents, district officials, Board of Education members, faculty and staff, who watched with delight as the inductees were recognized for their leadership, character, service and scholarship.
During the ceremony, members of the National Honor Society Executive Board delivered speeches and shared anecdotes about the inductees before presenting them with NHS certificates and pins to commemorate their achievement.

High school guidance secretary Sharon Logan was also honored at the event. Logan, who assists students with the college application process, was selected by members of the NHS Executive Board as this year’s NHS Honorary Member. According to Gabriella Leto, a member of the executive board, Logan was the perfect choice.
“She’s been a lot of help with transcripts and everything to do with college,” Leto said. “She has been an overwhelming support system.”

Lindenhurst High School Principal Dan Giordano expressed his pride in the NHS inductees and its executive board members.
“They are just wonderful,” he said. “They are constantly running fundraisers and doing community service activities, and they do it with such pride. They make our school look really good.”
The ceremony concluded with NHS members, both old and new, reciting the NHS pledge before joining their families for refreshments and photos to commemorate this proud moment.
