Lindenhurst High School Student Tests Positive For Coronavirus

LINDENHURST, NY — A student at Lindenhurst High School tested positive for COVID-19, Superintendent Daniel Giordano announced in a letter to the community on Tuesday.

In the letter, Giordano wrote that in following with the guidelines issued by the New York State Education Department and the Suffolk County Department of Health, all areas of the building that the student used were thoroughly cleaned and those spaces were disinfected.

"Based on guidance from the DOH, we will follow all necessary protocols to mitigate any potential exposure to other students or staff," Giordano wrote. "As always, the health and safety of our students and staff is our foremost priority."

The Department of Health has is conducting its contact tracing investigation and will notify those who have been identified as close contacts to the student. Those people, who will be contacted directly by health officials, will be required to quarantine for 14 days before returning to school to monitor their health.

Out of an abundance of caution the BOCES students that were on the bus with those students were asked to work remotely until the Board of Health completes their investigation. As a result of the 25 percent cohort the students in Cohort C, a total of 11 students, were notified by school officials if they were required to work remotely and quarantine.
