LINDENHURST, NY - The 10-year-old LA Fitness gym in Lindenhurst recently got a brand-new facelift. The gym underwent renovations over the course of nine days before officially reopening on Thursday, Oct. 24.
The 50,000 square-foot fitness center got a complete makeover from new floors, to new equipment, cosmetic changes and more, according to the general manager, Frank Carretta.
Carretta said the gym, located on 455 Park Avenue, is one of the oldest out of the 15 locations on Long Island and was one of the first to get renovations.

The renovations cost an estimated $800,000 to $1 million. The huge space, which also houses a four lane pool, a Jacuzzi, a sauna and a full basketball court, now also has new treadmills, elliptical bikes, a new functional training area, new strength machines and 32 new spin bikes.
Carretta says customers were extremely receptive to the new changes.

"They're very very happy, someone even said it's like moving into a new house," he told Patch.

The Lindenhurst resident says the gym has about 4,000 to 5,000 members.
"It's a large gym but it's got a small town feel," he said. "The front staff is really welcoming and knows almost everyone on a first name basis."
