Lindenhurst Man Had Child Pornography, Suffolk Police Say

Detectives seized multiple cell phones after executing a search warrant Friday morning, police said.

LINDENHURST, NY — A Lindenhurst man was arrested Friday morning after Suffolk County Police detectives discovered child pornography during the execution of a search warrant, police said.

Detectives assigned to the department’s Digital Forensic Unit executed a search warrant at a home located at 54 Sunrise Ave. in Lindenhurst around 7:34 a.m. Friday, following a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program, according to Suffolk County police

Police said detectives arrested Joseph Stangelo, 21, who lives at the residence.

During the search, detectives seized multiple cell phones, according to police.

Stangelo was charged with possessing a sexual performance by a child and promoting a sexual performance by a child, police said.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday at First District Court in Central Islip.

Suffolk County police said the department continues to investigate tips related to Internet Crimes Against Children cases.
