Lindenhurst Man Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver
The 61-year-old was walking on Montauk Highway when he was struck by a car early Monday, police say.

A 61-year-old Lindenhurst man was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash in Lindenhurst early Monday morning, police said.
According to police, John Aluska was walking in front of 609 Montauk Highway, west of South 9th Street, at about 1:20 a.m. when he was struck by a vehicle that was traveling eastbound on Montauk Highway.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene and Aluska was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash or has any other information about the incident to contact the Vehicular Crime Unit at 631-852-6555 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
