Lindenhurst High School seniors Natalie Cotroneo and Yasmin Zohny were recognized in the 62nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Natalie was named a semifinalist, while Yasmin was named a Commended Student. These students entered the 2017 National Merit Program by taking the 2015 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
Natalie now has an opportunity to continue in the competition for one of 7,500 Merit Scholarship awards that will be offered next spring, totaling approximately $33 million.
Natalie credits her success to her general love of learning, a passion that she attributes to the efforts of her parents and teachers. “I try to apply my love of learning to all that I do, and aim to make those who have supported me along the way feel proud of my efforts,” she said.
