Lindenhurst School Budget Passes

BREAKING: Lindenhurst School District residents headed to the polls Tuesday to vote on a school budget and elect board members.

Local residents approved the Lindenhurst School District’s $155.97 million proposed budget on Tuesday by a margin of 1,294-548.

The budget represents a 2.93 percent spending increase over the current year and it includes a 1.43 percent hike in the school tax levy, which is within the district’s state tax cap.

The average homeowner in Lindenhurst will pay an additional $123 in school taxes next year.

Incumbents Valerie McKenna and Edward J. Murphy, Jr. ran unopposed and were re-elected to the school board. Michael DiGiuseppe also won a seat on the board, with 1,065 votes to James Gallagher’s 616 votes. DiGiuseppe replaces Sean McNeilly, who did not run for re-election.
