Lindenhurst School Budget Vote, Board Election Tuesday

What you need to know.

Lindenhurst residents will head to the polls on Tuesday to cast their ballots on a proposed 2015-16 school budget and for school board candidates.

The proposed $148.5 million budget represents a 1.45 percent spending increase over the current year and it includes a 2.03 percent hike in the school tax levy, within the district’s 2.06 percent state tax cap.

“We are able to put forth a budget that not only preserves all of the programs that make the Lindenhurst education excellent, but also enhances the program with additional courses,” Superintendent Daniel Giordano said. “I am very proud that we were able to do this despite the many unfunded mandates and challenges that we must contend with during the budget planning process.”
