Lindenhurst School District Welcomes New Coordinator

The Lindenhurst school district announced that Thomas Scarola will serve as the new coordinator of career and technical education.

LINDENHURST, NY — The Lindenhurst Union Free School District has a new coordinator of career and technical education.

Thomas Scarola, the district announced Thursday, will serve in the administrative role.

"I am grateful to join the administrative team in Lindenhurst,” said Scarola. “I have already observed the warmth and welcoming kindness of the Lindenhurst school community, staff and students. I have been impressed by the dedication and talent of the CTE teachers I support and the students we serve."

Scarola began his career in education as a family and consumer sciences teacher at Hauppauge Middle School in 2008. In 2011, he went on to hold the position at JFK Middle School in Bethpage where he remained until accepting this new role in Lindenhurst.

Additionally, he has served as dean and assistant principal of the Western Suffolk BOCES regional summer school and is currently a board of education trustee for the Elwood Union Free School District.

He holds his certificate of advanced graduate study in school building and school district leadership from Stony Brook University. As well as a Master of Arts degree in family and consumer sciences education from Queens College and a Bachelor of Science degree in hotel, restaurant, and institutional management from Pennsylvania State University.

Scarola resides in Greenlawn with his wife Caitlin and their two children. He also has two rescue dogs named Douglas and Gracie. In his free time, he enjoys spending time outdoors, cooking, going to the movies and spending time with his family and friends.
