Lindenhurst SD: No Coronavirus In Area, Activities Canceled
Superintendent Daniel Giordano updated the community on the current situation in a letter released Friday.

LINDENHURST, NY — The Lindenhurst school district has decided to cancel all events and are starting to consider looking into "additional technology" in the event that the school will close due to the coronavirus outbreak, according to a letter from Superintendent Daniel Giordano. As of Friday, there are no confirmed cases of the virus in the Lindenhurst area. However a total of 28 people in Suffolk and 51 people in Nassau have tested positive for the coronavirus.
On Friday, Giordano stated that the district reviewed the results of a Technology Inventory Survey conducted by the district’s Department of Information Technology. As a result, officials have begun the process of "proactively addressing the needs of our staff and students who, based upon that survey, would require additional technology support for any duration of time that schools would be closed, should the district be forced to do so."
In the meantime, the school will remain open until officials are instruct to shut down by the health authorities. However, the school district was advised to cancel all field trips and after school and evening activities until further notice. This will go into effect on Monday.
