Students throughout the Lindenhurst Union Free School District celebrated national Read Across America Day on March 2 in several ways. The day celebrates a love of literacy in conjunction with the birthday of the late Dr. Seuss, author of many famous children’s books including “Green Eggs and Ham” and “Oh, the Places You’ll Go.”

Lindenhurst High School Student Council members organized a virtual literacy event in which the high school students volunteered to read some of their favorite books from childhood to the district’s elementary school students using the Google Meet virtual platform.

At Albany Avenue Elementary School, first graders in the Spanish Dual language program explored math, as well as literacy, when they sorted and added packets of goldfish snacks after reading the book “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish” in both English and Spanish.
