Lindenhurst Woman Starts GoFundMe For Her Sick Dog

"Gizmo is a sweet little angel that we love so much and it is so hard to see him so sick," the local woman wrote on the fundraising page.

LINDENHURST, NY - A Lindenhurst woman is seeking support from the community to help her sick dog.

Laura Crispi Hurley started a fundraiser on GoFundMe on Monday to help raise money for her dog, Gizmo, a 7-year-old Cavapoo.

According to the page, Gizmo became very sick this month. He stopped eating, lost 7 pounds and had a fever of a 104. After an emergency biopsy, it is still unknown what his illness is.

"He is trying so hard to overcome his illness. We have many vet bills piling up," she wrote on the page. "Still more treatment to be done. Gizmo deserves the best treatments possible."

The goal of the page is to raise a total of $15,000. As of Wednesday afternoon, the page has raised a total of $945.

"Gizmo is a sweet little angel that we love so much and it is so hard to see him so sick," Hurley wrote on the page. "Sometimes we take for granted how much an animal helps us heal through our own illnesses and are a therapy for our own well being."
