Lindy Athletes Receive Top Honors

The varsity athletes and coaches of Lindenhurst High School were recently honored at the annual Athletic Awards Banquet at the Melville Marriott on June 12. 

Coordinated by the Varsity Club, Janine Cheskay and Michael Cheskay and the district’s athletic department, the evening recognizes the effort, dedication and achievement of district athletes and coaches.

The banquet began with the grand procession of the Most Valuable Players for each team. Outstanding athletes were chosen for the Lindenhurst Hall of Fame and the Gold Key awards. Individual scholarships and recognition were presented to players throughout the evening.

“It is so important to acknowledge the hard work and dedication put forth by these talented players and coaches because they really do show up everyday and give it all they have,” said Anthony V. Amesti, director of athletics, physical education and health. “The year has been an overall success and it is because of those efforts and the level of commitment displayed by the students as well as the coaches and parents who support them.”
