Longtime Lindenhurst Board Of Ed Member Resigns
Robert Vitiello, who has been a member of the board since 2001, announced his resignation earlier this month.

LINDENHURST, NY - Longtime Lindenhurst Board of Education member Robert Vitiello recently announced his resignation.
During the regularly scheduled community forum held at the Margaret McKenna Administration Building on June 13, the voluntary resignation of Vitiello was accepted by his fellow board members.
He has been a member of the board of education since July 2001.

He served as a trustee for the majority of those years until accepting the role of vice president in July 2017.
Vitiello was instrumental in the establishment of the Lindenhurst “Wall of Heroes,” recognizing the military service of district graduates.

His resignation has resulted in a vacant seat on the district’s board of education. The board will now consider their options and determine how best to move forward with filling the seat.
“If I thought I could vote ‘no’ and change his mind, I would in a second,” board trustee Edward Langone said. “I know that I can’t, so I must begrudgingly accept his resignation and thank him for all that he has done for the district.”
