Man Charged In String Of Armed Gas Station Robberies: PD
Police say the man robbed five gas stations in North Amityville and Wyandanch over the past three weeks.
NORTH AMITYVILLE, NY — A man was arrested and charged Thursday night after an armed robbery at a Conoco gas station — and was linked to a string of armed robberies in North Amityville and Wyandanch over the past three weeks, Suffolk County Police said.
Police said that Mark Brown, 44, entered a gas station located at 655 Broadway in Amityville at about 4:26 p.m. He displayed a handgun and demanded cash from the clerk, police said. The clerk did not comply, and Brown forcibly took the cash drawer from the register and fled on a bicycle, police said.
Following an investigation, police located and arrested Brown at 6:19 p.m. outside of his North Amityville home.

Police determined that Brown had committed armed robberies at four other locations:
- Valero, 1100 Sunrise Highway, North Amityville, on November 14 at 10:35 a.m.
- BP, 1127 Broadway, North Amityville, on November 18 at 2:52 a.m.
- Conoco, 1310 Sunrise Highway, North Amityville, on November 21, at 2:51 p.m.
- BP, 1501 Straight Path, Wyandanch, on November 27 at 12:11 p.m.
Brown was charged with with five counts of second-degree robbery. He was held overnight at the First Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday.
