McCaffrey Recognizes New Eagle Scout Christian Brady

For his service project, Christian decided to design and construct movable walls for Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.

Suffolk County Legis. Kevin McCaffrey recently participated in the Eagle Court of Honor for Troop 54’s Christian Henry Brady.

The ceremony was held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church’s gymnasium, and was widely attended by Christian’s proud family and fellow Scouts, in addition to officials and representatives from federal, state, and local governments.

The journey a Scout must travel in order to earn the Eagle Scout rank is a challenging one to say the least. Not only must an Eagle Scout candidate move up through the various Scouting ranks, but he must maintain and hone the skill-set gained over the years. The skills acquired are ultimately put to the test during a candidate’s service project. This project requires the candidate to find a need in his community, develop a plan, acquire the resources, and bring it to fruition.

For his service project, Christian decided to design and construct movable walls for Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church that could be used as a backdrop for Christmas pageants and masses. This versatile addition to the Church will without any doubt be enjoyed and put to use by the parishioners for years to come.

“In completing his service project, Christian clearly demonstrated the kind of work ethic and leadership skills that we expect of those earning the Eagle Scout rank,” McCaffrey said. “Although Christian has finished all of his Eagle Scout requirements, I have a feeling that his devotion to community service has only just begun.”

Christian’s mother and father are now the proud parents of two Eagle Scout sons, as his brother, Robert, earned the rank in 2013. McCaffrey added, “We all owe a debt of gratitude to Christian’s parents, who have provided our society with two great citizens, and I wish their entire family the best of health and happiness in all of the years to come.”
