Police ID 3 Young Boys Hit By Car On Sunrise Highway

A 9-year-old boy, his 13-year-old brother and their 12-year-old cousin were all injured after being struck Wednesday morning.

LINDENHURST, NY - Two young brothers and their cousin were injured after being struck by a car in Lindenhurst early Wednesday, according to Suffolk Police.

Ryan Arthur, 20, of West Babylon was driving a 1998 Dodge Stratus in the right lane of westbound Sunrise Highway when his car struck 13-year-old Jose L. Lopez, his brother 9-year-old Jose E. Lopez, both of Copiague and their cousin, 12-year-old Luis Tejada, of West Babylon, who were crossing at Straight Path at 3:55 a.m.

The boys had left a home on 32nd Street in Copiague to go to 7-Eleven.

All three boys were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip.

Jose L. was listed in critical condition and Jose E. was listed in serious condition.

Tejada suffered non-life threatening injuries. Arthur was not injured.

The Dodge was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
