LINDENHURST, NY - A Long Island-based brewery is looking to open a second location in Lindenhurst soon.

Sand City Brewing Co. has been eyeing the former CVS on 150 S. Wellwood Avenue, which has been empty for about 3 or 4 years, Business Improvement District President Jason Kontakis confirmed.

But now, after nearly a year in the making the business will be joining 27A Brewery and W.A. Meadwerks to help make the downtown area a hotspot for the alcohol drinkers.

While the business has a long way to go before moving into the 10,000 square-foot space, it moved one step closer when the Babylon Industrial Development Agency made a unanimously decision to provide tax breaks for the new brewery on Wednesday.

However, according to Kontakis, it's "looking very good."

"I don't see any potential roadblocks or obstacles," he said. "The whole mentality for Lindenhurst and the downtown has changed for the better. This is a huge homerun for Lindenhurst."

The next step is for Sand City to start filling out applications for permits before construction can begin.

Sand City opened its first brewery on Northport's Main Street in 2015.
