Over $28K Donated For Family Of LI Man Who Died From Coronavirus
The community came together to raise the money for the family of a local man after he passed away from coronavirus last week.
LINDENHURST, NY — The Lindenhurst community recently came together to raise over $25K through an online fundraiser after a local resident recently died from the coronavirus. Last week, Lindenhurst resident Kasia Kapusta started a GoFundMe page to help the family of Leszek Pikura, who passed away after battling COVID-19 for three weeks.
"Heaven truly gained another angel today," she wrote on Friday. "There are no words, there will never be any words. Leszek’s sudden loss reminds us to cherish time with our loved ones and to provide support in times of need. For Leszek’s family, that time is now. In memory of our loyal and generous friend, please join us in giving comfort and support to them."
Leszek is hoping to raise a total of $30,000 which she wrote will go to Pikura's family for his funeral. According to the page, 100 percent of the donations will go directly to his family.
