West Babylon Kmart Closing

The West Babylon Kmart on Montauk Highway is closing, Sears Holdings announced Thursday.

"The company on Thursday, May 31 informed associates at 15 Kmart stores and 48 Sears stores that we will be closing these stores in early September 2018," the company said of closures taking place nationwide.

Eligible employees impacted by these store closures will receive severance and will have the opportunity to apply for open positions at other area Kmart or Sears stores.

Liquidation sales will begin as early as June 14 at the stores that are closing. The West Babylon Kmart is the only Kmart or Sears on Long Island among the closures announced Thursday.
