Steak Fry Raises Money for Scholarships

Thousands raised for scholarships to benefit students of Lindenhurst through the 57th annual Larry Troiano Memorial Steak Fry.

Thousands of dollars were raised for scholarships to benefit students of Lindenhurst through the 57th annual Larry Troiano Memorial Steak Fry, sponsored by the Lindenhurst Kiwanis Club. To date, the club has awarded a total of $419,400 to 251 student recipients.

The event, held at Fireman’s Park in Lindenhurst and enhanced with donations from Applebee’s, encouraged participants to make a donation to the scholarship fund and enjoy delicious meals prepared by the Applebee’s staff, as well as music and raffles.

High School Key Club members were instrumental in organizing the affair.

Key club president and vice president Lara Abenati and Chandni Patel spoke of the importance of the club’s involvement.

“It is vital to give back to the community that has given so much to us,” said Lara. “We volunteer because we want to set a good example for not only the members of the Key Club but for all Lindy students in hopes that they too will want to volunteer in the future and attempt to help their fellow classmates.”
