NORTH AMITYVILLE, NY - A North Amityville man was arrested after officers found drugs and a stolen handgun in his home on Thursday morning, according to Suffolk Police. In response to neighborhood complaints of drug activity, detectives executed a search warrant at the Emerald Lane South home at 6:17 a.m., police said. During the search, a loaded 9mm handgun, which had been stolen from Georgia in August 2017, along with ammunition, seven grams of crack, $11,000 in cash, a cell phone, drug packaging and scales were recovered, police said. Jean Evans, 27, who lives at the home, was charged with second degree criminal possession of a weapon, fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property, third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of second degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, police said.
