Stolen Gun, Cocaine, $11K Recovered From Suffolk Home: Cops

A 27-year-old resident was arrested after the drug bust Thursday morning, police say.

NORTH AMITYVILLE, NY - A North Amityville man was arrested after officers found drugs and a stolen handgun in his home on Thursday morning, according to Suffolk Police.

In response to neighborhood complaints of drug activity, detectives executed a search warrant at the Emerald Lane South home at 6:17 a.m., police said.

During the search, a loaded 9mm handgun, which had been stolen from Georgia in August 2017, along with ammunition, seven grams of crack, $11,000 in cash, a cell phone, drug packaging and scales were recovered, police said.

Jean Evans, 27, who lives at the home, was charged with second degree criminal possession of a weapon, fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property, third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of second degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, police said.

Evans will be held overnight at the First Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday.
