Superintendent: Possible Threat Made Toward Lindenhurst Middle School, Additional Security Measures to Be Put in Place
Threat was made toward the school for next Monday.

A possible threat has been made toward Lindenhurst Middle School for next Monday, Oct. 20, Superintendent Daniel Giordano said in a message posted on the district’s website Wednesday.
Several additional security messages are being put in place over the next several days and police will be present at the school throughout the day Monday, Giordano said.
Giordano did not specify the nature of the threat, but Newsday reported that a student discovered a threat written on paper and notified school officials Tuesday afternoon.

Suffolk Police told Patch Wednesday they had no record of any 911 calls regarding a threat to the school.

The school district recently learned of a possible threat to the middle school for Oct. 20, 2014. In order to safeguard all of the students and staff, the school will be adding additional security measures.
The following are the tentative precautions to be put in place so as to ensure the safety of the children and staff. Should the individual be identified and apprehended, these precautions will be revisited.
On Friday, 10/17/14:
• The students must get possessions from their lockers prior to ninth period and take them all home.
• The building will be locked down after all students leave.
• Administrators will sweep the building.
• There will be additional security for the evening.
• All evening activities will be cancelled.
On Saturday and Sunday, 10/18/14 & 10/19/14:
• The building will be locked down.
• All building activities will be cancelled.
On Monday, 10/20/14:
• Administrators and security will arrive early.
• Extra security guards will be present.
• The Suffolk County Police will be present throughout the day.
• Students will only be able to enter through the front (west wings) and side (south wing, main office entrance) doors.
• All bags will be inspected.
• Hall passes will be restricted.
• All evening activities will be cancelled.
Because of these proactive efforts, Lindenhurst Middle School continues to be a safe place for our students. The safety and security of our students is our top priority and we will continue to communicate any important information with the community.
