Teacher Of The Week: Mrs. Karen Newman​

LINDENHURST, NY - Everybody has a favorite teacher — maybe it's a teacher who went out of their way to make one student's day or a teacher who brightens up a classroom every day.

One teacher who deserves a shout-out is Mrs. Karen Newman, a kindergarten teacher at Harding Avenue Elementary School in Lindenhurst. She was nominated as this week's Teacher of the Week by Jodi Kyriazis.

Here's what Kyriazis had to say about Mrs. Newman:

She has been teaching for many years. Every time we see her she always has a big smile. Our daughter was so nervous starting kindergarten and Mrs. Newman is truly making it such a great experience for the students in her class. Our daughter said she never gets a mad face or voice which speaks volumes if you are with 24 4 and 5 year olds! She makes learning fun for them and I am amazed that someone who hardly knew their letters in September can now read and sound out words. Her patience and kindness are appreciated!
