Teen Kills His Housemate in Suffolk County: Police

NORTH AMITYVILLE, NY – An 18-year-old man faces a murder charge after his housemate was found dead inside a North Amityville home on Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, Rashad Woolridge, 28, of 10 Avon Drive, was found dead from a gunshot wound in the home at about 12:40 p.m.

After a thorough investigation, Tephonte Smith, of the same address, was arrested by Homicide Squad detectives and charged with second degree murder.

There were several children inside the home at the time of the shooting, News 12 reported.

Police have not released a possible motive in the shooting.

Smith was overnight at the First Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.
