Video: Lindy's Skon to Play in Empire Challenge

Will represent Long Island in annual all-star event.

’s Stephen Skon will play in the annual Empire Challenge all-star football game Tuesday, June 21, at Hofstra University.

Skon, who'll play quarterback in the , will represent Long Island on the gridiron one last time as it looks to beat the New York City team in the meant to raise awareness for cystic fibrosis and youth football for the Boomer Esiason Foundation.

“I’m looking forward to playing in this game,” he said, “one last high school .”

Skon, who's been one of the best quarterbacks on Long Island the last two seasons, will be playing at Georgetown University starting this fall.

At Skon not only played quarterback for the football team, but he also played shortstop for the varsity team. He holds many records in both sports.

Skon was named male Athlete of the Year at the . He was also named the male Dellecave Award winner, was recently given to Suffolk County’s top athlete, prior to the awards banquet.

There have been 12 other players from Lindenhurst selected in the game since its inception 16 years ago.

Long Island players spent last week practicing at Sachem High School North in Lake Ronkonkoma, and will hit the field at Hofstra multiple times before Tuesday’s contest.
