Voter's Guide: Lindenhurst School Budget, Board Election
What you need to know for Tuesday's vote.
Lindenhurst residents will vote on the school district’s $146.37 million proposed budget for the 2014-15 school year on Tuesday.
The proposal calls for a 0.47 percent increase in spending over the current year and carries a 1.48 percent tax levy increase, which is within the state's tax cap. If approved, the average Lindenhurst homeowner would pay about $140 additional in school taxes next year.
Four candidates are running for three seats on the Lindenhurst Board of Education. Incumbents Valerie McKenna and Sean McNeilly are running unopposed. Incumbent Edward J. Murphy Jr. is being challenged by Julie Bartolomeo.
Residents who last year voted at Alleghany Avenue Elementary School will this year vote at Lindenhurst Middle School. The other polling locations of Albany Avenue, Daniel Street, Harding Avenue and William Rall Elementary Schools remain the same. Polls are open Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
