2 Long Beach Firefighters Hurt Battling Blaze

No civilians were injured in the house fire, which required help from other fire departments to be put out.

Two Long Beach firefighters were injured while battling a house fire on West Hudson Street Thursday afternoon.

According to the fire department, the call came in at 4:10 p.m. for a house fire on the 200 block of West Hudson Street. The fire had broken out on the second floor of the home and spread into the attic.

With the help of neighboring fire departments, the fire was brought under control within an hour. No civilians were injured.

Two Long Beach firefighters were taken to the hospital. One suffered a back injury, and another for smoke inhalation.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
