2 Victims Robbed, Assaulted At Long Beach Motel: Police

Two Freeport men were charged early Thursday morning, police said.

LONG BEACH, NY — Two Freeport men were taken into custody for a robbery in North Long Beach, police said.

A man and woman invited the two men to their motel room before dawn on Thursday, authorities said.

When the men arrived, Ishmel Owens, 32, began punching the male victim in the chest while he was lying down in the bed. At the same time, police said, Kylil Freeman, 28, grabbed the woman and put a chokehold on her.

Owens instructed the male victim to go with them to an ATM and withdraw all of his money or they would kill the woman, police said.

He complied and they drove to a 7-Eleven where the cash machine was stationed in the back of the store. The victim called 911 and police arrested Owens and Freeman without further incident, police said.

During the investigation, officers located a white powdery substance in Owens' pocket.

Owens is charged with second-degree attempted grand larceny, two counts of attempted robbery, fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree menacing, third-degree assault and second-degree unlawful imprisonment.

Freeman is charged with second-degree attempted grand larceny, two counts of second-degree attempted robbery and second-degree unlawful imprisonment. They were due to be arraigned on Friday.
