Man Killed In Park Ave Crash Identified: Police
The man was hit while crossing the street Sunday evening, police say.
LONG BEACH, NY. — Police have identified the pedestrian killed in Sunday night's West Park Avenue crash, police said in a statement at 3 p.m. Monday.
According to Nassau County police, the man was 79-year-old Long Beach resident Thomas Maloney. Maloney was hit by a BMW SUV Sunday evening while crossing West Park Avenue, police said.
The accident took place at 5:23 p.m., with Maloney being hit as the vehicle traveled eastbound, police said. Maloney suffered severe trauma and was hospitalized after the crash, police said. He was pronounced dead by hospital staff, while no other injuries were reported, police said.

According to police, the driver of the BMW remained on-scene and an investigation is ongoing.
