90-Year-Old Woman Dies After Being Accidentally Run Over by Friend in Oceanside

The woman was helping her friend move a car to the top of a driveway Wednesday, police say.

An 90-year-old woman was killed in a horrific accident in Oceanside Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, June Gerin, of Oceanside, was assisting her friend, an 89-year-woman, in moving a 1999 Ford sedan to the top of the driveway of a Windsor Parkway residence at 2:35 p.m.

The friend mistakenly placed the car in reverse, striking Gerin as she stood behind the car, police said.

The car continued in reverse across the road before it came to a stop. Gerin was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The driver was taken to the hospital for evaluation. The vehicle passed brake and safety tests that were conducted at the scene. The incident has been deemed accidental, police said.
