HEMPSTEAD, NY — The Town of Hempstead accepted a $12,000 donation Wednesday from a movie house seeking to film on the beach in Point Lookout.

Listed as item 23 on the consent agenda, the donation was made by Gramercy Productions, LLC, a movie production house headquartered on 32nd street in Manhattan. The $12,000 donation, town documents show, will be deposited into a town “gifts and donation” account and used to supplement part of the 2026 budget.

During public comment on the administrative calendar, a Hempstead resident named Lynn Kroog sought to see more of the documents pertaining to the Point Lookout filming request.

“Does the town have photo permits and filming permits that they issue?” Kroog asked

Deputy supervisor of parks and recreation Kyle Meagan said the town has filming permits, and that it requires liability insurance and other supporting documentation to issue those permit. The permit fee, Meagan said, was something of which he wasn’t sure.

“When we, the department, are granted the permit, we’re not actually issuing the permit, we’re just executing the conditions of the permit,” Meagan said.

Under the resolution, the film company seeks to access the parking lot at Town Park Point Lookout and the beach at Civic Beach, also in Point Lookout, to accommodate its filming request.

The resolution to accept the donation and proceed with Gramercy’s access agreement passed as part of the administrative calendar.
