JONES BEACH, NY — Paramedics from Jones Beach and the state Parks and Recreation Department treated one person for a suspected shark bite Friday afternoon, Newsday reported.
A person was treated for a possible shark bite at about noon Friday near Jones Beach Field 6, officials told the outlet.
As a precaution, the person was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow to be treated, the outlet reported.

News 12 is reporting that it happened at around noon.
The outlet reported that it was unclear if swimming was shut down, but bathers were seen in the water just before 2 p.m.
Hempstead Town officials told the outlet that its shark patrol is carefully monitoring town beaches for sharks.
Beachgoers were told to stay out of the water on Thursday after a nine-foot shark was spotted just off the coast of Point Lookout.
