Atlantic Beach Man Airlifted Out Of Water With Suspected Spinal Injury: PD

A 45-year-old man was airlifted to the hospital Sunday afternoon after suffering what police suspect was a spinal injury, per police.

ATLANTIC BEACH, NY — A 45-year-old man was airlifted to the hospital Sunday afternoon after falling off of a boogie board and hitting his head, police said.

Nassau County police said they received a 911 call at 4:30 p.m. Sunday with reports of a 45-year-old man who had fallen off his boogie board in the water off of the Sunny Atlantic Beach Club on Ocean Boulevard in Atlantic Beach. According to police, the man hit his head when he fell off the board. Police said the fall resulted in a "suspected spinal injury."

A Nassau County police helicopter responded to the scene and took the man to the hospital where he's listed in stable condition, police said.
