2. Man Charged With Robbing Rockville Centre Gas Station, Slashing Employee With Knife (newsbreak.com) — Police say a Hempstead man accused of robbing a Rockville Centre gas station and slashing a 64-year-old clerk was tracked down and arrested in Long Beach on Oct. 8. Detectives allege he stole cash after attacking the employee, who was hospitalized for evaluation, and now faces first-degree robbery and assault charges.
3. Mount Sinai South Nassau names Dr. Joshua Kugler interim president amid hospital expansion (liherald.com) — Long Beach residents now have stronger local emergency care thanks in part to Dr. Joshua Kugler, who helped bring Mount Sinai South Nassau's emergency department to the city after Superstorm Sandy. Now named interim president of the Oceanside hospital, he plans to keep expanding advanced services while emphasizing patient safety, staff wellbeing, and maintaining close ties with Long Beach and the South Shore communities.
4. 50 Years On The Bay (rockawave.com) — Long Beach gets several shout-outs in a nostalgic look back at Beach Channel High School's first graduating classes, whose alumni now live in Rockaway, Long Beach, and far beyond. Graduates reminisced about commuting over the Atlantic Beach Bridge, ocean-centered classes on Jamaica Bay, and how their school years shaped the coastal communities they still call home.
5. Detroit Urban Craft Fair Named Best Craft Fair in USA Today 10BEST Readers' Choice Awards (wcsx.com) — Long Beach's own Arts and Crafts Boardwalk Festival earned eighth place in USA Today's 10Best craft fair rankings, putting the city on a national handmade-art map. While the top honor went to Detroit, the recognition highlights Long Beach's boardwalk as a destination for creative vendors, food, music, and family-friendly browsing when the festival returns.
