Balloon Apparent Cause Of Long Beach Power Outage: Report
More than 20,000 customers lost electricity Tuesday afternoon.

LONG BEACH, NY — Electricity failed in Long Beach for more than an hour on Tuesday. It appears that a mylar balloon was the culprit that cut the power to at least 24,000 customers, Newsday reported.
The outage happened at approximately 4:30 p.m. and was fully restored before 6 p.m., Newsday said.
Customers were impacted in Long Beach and along the barrier island.
