Billy, Janice Crystal Fund Long Beach Playground
City Council votes Wednesday to approve $11,000 donation from some of Long Beach's hometown heroes.

Billy and Janice Crystal are helping build a brand new playground for children in their hometown of Long Beach.
The Long Beach City Council is set to vote Wednesday to approve the purchase of playground equipment for the Magnolia Childcare Center at the Recreation Center.
“Funds are being provided through a very generous donation made by Billy and Janice Crystal to the City of Long Beach,” according to Wednesday’s meeting agenda.

The Crystals donated a total of $11,817 that will be used to buy three pieces of playground equipment for the playground, city officials said.
Equipment is being purchased from Raymond Michael, Ltd. in Mount Vernon.

Billy Crystal, once an East Park Avenue kid, and Janice have been raising funds for Long Beach for years. After their hometown was devastated by Hurricane Sandy hit, the couple worked with Target to replace books at Long Beach Middle School, collected $1 million in relief funds from fellow celebrities, and helped build DreamCourts for basketball at the Rec Center.
