City Of Long Beach: Bike Lane Markers On The Boardwalk

The City installed bike lane markers on the boardwalk at National and Edwards Boulevards. We will gauge the efficacy of the markers along with public sentiment over the next couple of months to determine if they should be installed at other entrances. The City has tried both painting and branding the wood as a means of demarking the lane, but the Ipe wood used to construct the boardwalk is too dense to accept either of these methods. If these markers prove ineffective, we will continue to explore various alternatives until we come up with a viable solution.
