Educational, Entertaining Juneteenth Program For Families

The Long Beach Library hosts the event on June 9.

LONG BEACH, NY — Get ready for a Juneteenth celebration at the Long Beach Library.

The day that recognizes the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans and their culture will be honored on June 9.

The library's "Teach-In" is called "Family Reunion: Educate, Celebrate, Heal" and will feature live music and videos for people of all ages.

The program explores, in part, what freedom meant after the Civil War and the history of the Black family in the United States.

This in-person event at the library is scheduled from 6:30-8 p.m.
