10th Annual Cabaret Festival

Artists in Partnership and the LBPL are Proud To Present the 10th Annual Cabaret Festival May 16-20 at the Long Beach Public Library.

The festival will be a celebration of the cabaret genre honoring the Great American Songbook with performances by renowned local and New York City-based artists.

Why Cabaret and the American Songbook?
Wednesday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m.
Susan James, with featured guest Anita Darian, explore the highlights from the festival’s last 10 years.

That Could be Arranged
Thursday, May 17 at 7:30 p.m.
Musical director/arranger Tedd Firth with vocalists Kate Cooke Cynthia Crane, Amy Dolan Fletcher, Diane Hoffman and Susan Winter perform and demonstrate interpretative style followed by “Meet the Artists”.

Daydream
Friday, May 18 at 7:30 p.m. – Vocalist Karen Oberlin performs with pianist Tedd Firth followed by “Meet the Artists”, a Q and A with special guest David Hajdu, music reporter for The New Republic and author of Lush Life: A Biography of Billy Strayhorn.

Cabaret Conversations
Saturday, May 19 at 2:00 p.m. – Established artists perform and comment on the cabaret genre, selection/ interpretation of material, and the club scene. The panel consists of critic Rob Lester, the Iguana’s Dana Lorge, Iridium’s Terese Genecco, Metropolitan Room’s Tanya Holt, Sugar Bar’s Shaynee Rainbolt, Aza’s Marissa Mulder, and pianist/songwriter/teacher Bill Zeffiro.

A Tribute to Marilyn Maye
Saturday, May 19 at 7:00 p.m. – Performers are Kevin Alvey, Deb Berman, Grace Cosgrove, Steve Doyle, Terese Genecco, Peggy Herman, Sidney Myer, Shaynee Rainbolt, Billy Stritch, Steve Webber, Susan Winter, Bill Zeffiro and special guest Marilyn Maye in Concert.

Billie Remembered
Sunday, May 20 at 1:30 p.m. – Hear vocalist Stephanie Nakasian, with Hod O’Brien on piano, in this tribute to Billie Holiday and her development in clubs followed by “Meet the Artists”.

The Dog-Walking Diva
Sunday, May 20 at 3:30 p.m. – In this program, vocalist
Champagne Pam with Don Rebic on piano and Sean Harkness on guitar followed by “Meet the Artists”.
