Nassau Firefighters Save Children, Bunny From Apartment Fire

The fire started in an apartment Tuesday morning, but was quickly stopped from spreading.

Long Beach firefighters saved two young children and a rabbit from an apartment fire Tuesday morning.

Firefighters say the call came in just before 8 a.m. for a fire in a building on Birch Court. The first firefighters on the scene saw smoke coming from a second story window and entered the building.

The fire was in the walls and ceiling of the apartment, and firefighters had to break open the walls in two adjoining bedrooms to fight it. However, firefighters were able to quickly get the fire under control and prevent it from spreading.
