Forbes Ranks Point Lookout Among Country's Most Expensive Zip Codes

Several Long Island villages topped the latest rankings.

Forbes has revealed its list of America’s Most Expensive Zip Codes for 2014, and several Long Island villages have made the list, including Point Lookout.

Out of the 500 most expensive zip codes, Point Lookout was ranked No. 499 with a median home price of $893,621.68 and an average of 440 days on the market.

  • Sagaponack, 11962: Ranked at No. 2 with a median home price of $6,433,076.92
  • Old Westbury, 11568: Ranked at No. 49 with a median home price of $2,818,307.69
  • Mill Neck, 11765: Ranked at No. 59 with a median home price of $2,659,076.92
  • Glen Head, 11545: Ranked at No. 83 with a median home price of $2,143,887.73

According to Forbes, its annual list of America’s Most Expensive Zip Codes is based on data from Altos Research, a Mountain View, California-based real estate analysis firm.

For this ranking, Altos calculated the median home prices for more than 28,500 U.S. ZIP codes (covering 95% of the U.S. population) using asking prices for single-family homes and condominiums listed for sale.
