Hempstead Town Starts Offering Beach Weddings

Town residents can now get married on the beach on Saturday nights. Find out how to book the venue for yourself.

Town of Hempstead Supervisor Laura Gillen and Town Clerk Sylvia Cabana have announced that the town will soon be offering couples the chance to get married on the beach. Beginning on July 28, and every Saturday thereafter from 5 to 7 p.m., residents can choose to tie the knot at three scenic oceanside locations: Point Lookout Town Park, Lido Beach, or Hewlett Point Park.

Requests for marriage certificates have risen approximately 20 percent over last year, prompting an innovative solution to help marry residents while Town Hall is closed.

“With so many couples wanting to get married, but unable to find a time that worked during the busy work week, we wanted to offer something a little bit different than your traditional ceremony,” said Gillen. “Love is in the air and we’re ready to step up and do our part in order to bring happy couples together at some of the most beautiful locations the Town has to offer.”

To make a reservation to be married, residents should call the Town Clerk office at 516-812-3014.

“Destination weddings have become a very popular choice for many couples who are getting married today,” said Cabana. “Why not offer Hempstead Town residents a unique and beautiful wedding ceremony by taking advantage of our beautiful beaches on the South Shore during the warmer months? I wanted to make their ceremonies a bit more special and I'm pleased to offer this service.”
