Island Park Ace Hardware Robbed; Man Taken Into Custody: Police
Albert Garfield had fled the Island Park store, but was picked up by police a short time later, authorities say.

NORTH LONG BEACH, NY — An Island Park man was arrested for robbing an Ace Hardware store in North Long Beach on Wednesday afternoon.
Albert Garfield, 57, was placed in custody after a thorough investigation, police said.
Officers responded to a call for a disturbance at the store parking lot on Long Beach Road. Garfield is accused of taking merchandise without paying.

Garfield kicked the store employee when confronted in the parking lot and fled, authorities said.
When picked up a short time later, Garfield was charged with third-degree robbery, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and petit larceny. He was to be arraigned on Thursday.
